SIR PETER BLAKE LAUNCHES LIMITED EDITION PRINT FOR LIVERPOOL BIENNIAL

Liverpool Biennial is delighted to announce the launch of Dazzle, 2016, a limited edition silkscreen print created by artist Sir Peter Blake.
The renowned British Pop artist launched the artwork last night at a VIP event at Blakes restaurant in Hard Days Night Hotel. The restaurant is named after the artist, following his design of the Beatles’ iconic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover in 1967.
The latest in a series of limited editions by artists who have worked with Liverpool Biennial, Dazzle, 2016 relates to Blake’s 2015 commission, Everybody Razzle Dazzle, for which he transformed the Mersey Ferry Snowdrop into a moving artwork. It features a number of symbols that regularly appear in Blake’s art: a star, a target and a rainbow. Prevalent in many of his early works, such as Love Wall, 1961, he has recently reclaimed the symbols as ‘Peter Blake Pop Art Incorporated’, bringing them back into his practice and showcasing them to new audiences. The symbols are particularly reflective of his signature style in colour, monochrome and shape.
Liverpool Biennial Limited Editions are an opportunity to own work by leading contemporary artists that have worked with the Biennial. The sale of Limited Editions directly supports Liverpool Biennial’s new commissions, exhibitions, talks and educational programmes.

This new print references both my early work and my recent dazzle commission, and I am proud to help Liverpool Biennial continue its impressive record of working with artists to create ambitious and challenging new work.”

Dazzle, 2016 has a limited run of 150 prints. It will be available from Tuesday 1 March 2016 at www.biennial.com. Priced at £720, each 60x40cm print is signed and numbered by the artist.
